Spring Equinox Mojo 2012
Spring Equinox 2012
For some an equinox can come and go without a noticeable ripple. Spring Equinox is just another day on planet Earth for most beings. For me Celestial cycles are more like up-grades… penetrating alterations to previous data. Like a software upgrade to facilitate operations. Where ever I am in my life process, a surge of Nature enters and alters my operating system. This recent Spring Equinox followed the pattern and coinciding with the New Moon, the re-boot introduced a new program to begin a change routine.
As I was in the process of organizing my upcoming gardening season I was taking into account the early arrival of Spring/Summer here in Colorado and adjusting to the need to get going with seasonal chores much earlier than ever before. It looks as though a challenging, hot, dry climate will alter all previous patterns of Nature. So I got busy cleaning yards and gardens up right away.
As I dealt with my various clients, management companies and residents, assembling a list of properties to maintain this season, I had many drop outs from previous years, due to circumstances beyond my control. One property management company lost control of four apartments I cared for, and one of their owners found a cheap kid to replace me with.
Two other residents and past clients opted out for budget concerns, and my largest and favorite property (my Western roof perch for Sunset) now has new residents and will be taking over most if not all of the work I did there for over a dozen years. So, before I start working I am already down seven properties including my most valued estate. Big changes and losses were shaking my confidence. Every one of these issues affected my ability to generate income, have a good work season, and feel good about myself.
Things were looking bleak for me, especially after struggling through a disappointing winter snow removal season. The thought of turning sixty this summer, the aches and pains of a worn out hip socket and no young helper to assist me this year were weighing upon my spirit. I found myself (once again) on the brink of poverty, facing an uncertain future with no wiggle room. Naturally, this sinking energy spilled over into my personal relationships and challenged my ability to stay positive and excited about things to come.
Well, I decided to begin with the yards that remained and began cleaning a yard, its gardens and its water feature, on the Spring Equinox in a pretty low mood. As I started turning this ten by ten vegetable garden to ready the soil so the clients could plant their early seeds, I bent over a border shrub. I noticed a white flash in amongst all the green and brown and reached automatically for it, cleaning out trash as always. It was a golf ball from the course bordering the property, just divided by an irrigation canal. I find them from time to time, wayward shots. Titlist, Nike, corporate logo’s, charities, I have buckets of them from over the years, from different properties around golf courses.
Well this ball that I found, at a perilously low level of crappy attitude was unique. In the past, yards have always had a direct method of communicating with my spirit. We have a history of speaking in the playful language of random toy discovery. My guides plant clues in yards before me and I recognize the message internally. I trust these communications because they have accurately predicted many events in my past. The synchronicity in the way they appear, the location, as well as the humor level and timing, all say something symbolically.
This toy said, simply, “MOJO”… Well, my brain immediately jumped to the conclusion that I had gotten my mojo back, ala {“Austin Powers”}. My body responded by looking up to the sky, stretching and receiving the download. I couldn’t help but smile, I felt new strength arrive. The Sun infused my spirit with the whisper of mysterious, sacred life. Breathing deeply, I realized, I had reached maximum emptiness which means… “hold on tight…, fulfilling opportunities await”!
So, now the filling begins. As I finished out a couple of hours of hard digging and cleaning chores I grew stronger and more enthusiastic. As I wrapped it up with this resident I listened to a phone message asking me to take on a new property for an old acquaintance, “Chuck Austin”. Mojo flowing through Austin! “Funny Stuff”!!! This is a great addition to my responsibilities, with tree and sprinkler work and lots of ground to clean and then maintain for the season. Harmony predicted and preceded by Humor…
Before I can drive off, the phone rings with another call from a past client, (Chuck Austin’s son in law) asking me to bring a trailer to a property I was familiar with, to remove any left behind items and haul them from the premises. The house has a beautiful yard, with about an acre of lawn and Pine trees that I had tended to on a couple of seasonal clean ups in the past.
It had just been sold and I had blown and raked the yard clean in the past few days, making it presentable for the new buyers. I did not arrange a time or any contact with others preferring to come and go as I please. So, after lunch, I arrived to clean out scrap wood, old paint cans, bunny hutch, trash, wood pile, etc.
As time unfolds the new buyer emerges from the house and meets me. She just happened to be there for a few minutes to meet with her interior designer. She spots me and wants to show me around and point to trash. As we walk she finds out I am a groundskeeper and familiar with her new yard. Without question, she felt my vibe,
sized me up and seized the opportunity . She hires me to begin immediately. She trusts me without knowing anything about me and gives me her contact information. No interview, no discussion of credentials or compensation. Just tag, you are “IT”, plan it, do it and name your price!
It turns out she is a Doctor with a practice at our local hospital and her husband is also in a successful career but is unfamiliar with yard work and fixing things. I also felt the instinctual connection with her and agreed without hesitation. This budding friendship is a perfect fit for us all.
As I recounted this “Mojo” story, at the Austin residence the next day, to a buddy who is not easily shaken by my weird path, I ended the tale with a caution. The old yin/ yang balance must be in play. “Surely I will now be pooped on” I stated. On the next incoming call, as he drove away, sure enough there was the poop.
The husband, my new client, whom I haven’t met yet, had raged with his real estate agents that his back yard was still a mine field of dog poop. Well, I agreed to go pick it all up the next morning and charge the sellers. I filled three five gallon buckets and hope it will put me on good terms with his majesty, the king of this beautiful yard.
So I believe I’ve got my mojo flowing once again. My season of work is blossoming before me, a month early. I’ve trimmed roses, raked leaves, cleaned gutters and formed game plans for my new clients. While working at the Austin’s, the neighbors from both sides asked for my card and anticipate using me at various times for their chores too.
What an impact a New Moon Spring Equinox can make to one ready to listen to Nature…
LIFE is a BALL, let it roll and play on…
